Three drivers still have a chance to win Beltsville Speedway's late-model sportsman division title with two more Friday night shows remaining this season.
Tonight, three 50-lap races for the late-model, limited and street-stock divisions counting double points are scheduled. Racing will begin at 8 p.m.
Defending champion Jack Bland of Riverdale has 380 points to lead the late-model drivers with Bob Ballantine of Baltimore next with 376 and Dick Boswell of Berwyn Heights third with 359. Boswell's own car was destroyed in a crash last week at Beltsville and he will have a borrowed mount tonight.
Limited-class leader Danny Fair of Woodbridge has won a dozen Beltzville features this season but has only a 16-point margin over Doug Hartley of Mitchellville. Danny Bennett of Lanham has clinched his second straight street-stock crown.
Dorsey (Md.) Speedway has two shows this weekend. Motorcycles will race tonight over the quarter-mile dirt tract. Tomorrow night is the final stock car show, with Will Dilks 65 points ahead of fellow Baltimore driver Rick Jones for the late-model class title. Ed Sutton of Crownsville, Md., is the leading Figure Eight driver and Dale Beitler of Laurel the street-stock leader.
