Travis Nowlin, a 5-foot-10, 170-pound sophomore tailback, scammered for touchdown runs of 68 and eight yerds Friday night to lead Clarke County to a 39-9 rout of Warren County.He also assumed the area individual scoring leadership with seven touchdowns for 42 points.

Dennis Cantwell registered three touchdowns, including 48-and 44-yard scoring jaunts, and added a two-point conversion as Pallotti downed West Nottingham of Pennsylvania, 26-6. Cantwell, who picked up 168 yards in 13 carries, has 38 points to place second in the area.

Ted Ealy of Eleanor Roosevelt, who scored two touchdowns Saturday against Chamberlain in a 26-0 victory, and Jeff Starnes, who scored once to help Wilde Lake defeat old Mill, 28-12, are tied for the Maryland lead with six touchdowns and 36 points apiece.

Oakland Mills, the area's top-scoring team with 131 points, in three games, placed two players in the top five in Maryland with Dudley Redding, who scored 20 points Saturday for a season's total of 34, and Chet Gee, who now has 26 points after adding eight points in the Wildcats 28-8 decision over Central.
