Newcomer Mark Napier scored the game's first goal and Guy Lafleur netted a pair of shots as the Montreal Canadiens dumped visiting Colorado, 5-2, in the National Hockey League Saturday night.

Goaltender Don Edwards made 42 saves, incoudin g23 in the second period, and five different skaters scored for Buffalo as the Sabres defeated host Minnesota. Flyers 3, Red Wings 1

Rick MacLeish scored a shorthanded goal on a 25-foot at 6:39 of the second period to break a 1-1 tie and Philadelphia added an empty-net goal in the final half minute to defeat host Detroit. Kings 6, Blues 2

Butch Gorinf and Danny Grant each garnered two goals and Marcel Dionne contributed three assists to life Los Angeles over visiting St. Louis. The Blues' Brian Sutter registered two goals to give him the NHL lead with six.
