Rick Lipscomb of Madison rushed for 106 yards, including touchdown runs of 25. nine, four and three yards to lead the undefeated fourth-ranked Warhawks to a 25-15 Great Falls District triumph over Herndon on Friday night. With his second consecutive four-touchdown performance, Lipscomb, who has scored 10 of his 14 touchdowns in his last three games, vaulted into the area scholastic scoring leadership with 84 points.
Dennis Cantwell of Pallotti, area leader for the past two weeks, broke, loose for touchdowns of 12 and two yards in the Panthers 18-0 whitewash of Riverdale Baptist. He holds second place with 78 points and maintains a comfortable 18-point margin over the rest of the private-independent field.
The batter between Wilde Lake and Oakland Mills (both 3-0 in league play) for the Howard County championship has extended into the individual scoring race. Jeff Starnes of Wilde Lake had touchdowns of 19, 18 and four yards among his 11 carries for 105 yards in the Wildcats 52-6 drubbing of Howard for a seasons's total of 68 points. Dudley Redding of Oakland Mills scored one TD in a 14-6 win over Atholton, but fell to second place with 66 points.
