Tut-tut, Maryland Athletic Director Carl James says of Coach Lefty Driesell's rap at the NCAA says of Coach Lefty Driesell's rap at the NCAA limit of two teams from a conference in the postseason basketball tournament: "We're not boycotting the NCAA, the ACC or anybody." James said he didn't disagree with Driesell but, "There are always going to be inequities in anything, and the way to make changes is through the NCAA basketball committee, not boycotting.... It's the representatives from the member institutions who serve on the committee and forunately we have a good one in our area in Willis Casey." Casey is N.C. State athletic director.

The Brookland Club, at its 15th annual awards banquet Sanurday (6:30 p.m. social hour, 7:30 dinner), Shoreham Americana, will honor: Redskin Dave Butz, Terp Neal Olkiewicz, Carroll High's Jeff Denney as outstanding defensive football players; AL (Sleepy) Thompson of St. Stephen's as top high school football coach; Oxon Hill Boys Club No. 100 team; and with the special award for outstanding contribution to sports on the youth level, Charles (Bob) Green. Green capped a lifetime of community involvement since 1950 graduation from McKinley with his coaching of the St. John the Baptist 110-pound team (Silver Spring) that the past season terminated an 80-game winning streak ship.
