T. C. Williams of Alexandria, Va., won four preliminary heats and qualified its boy's senior eight today for Saturday's finals of the 45th annual Scholastic Rowing Association Pond at St. Andrew's School.

The titles in 27 classifications will be contested Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

The Titans advanced their girls' senior eight, boys' and girls' junior eights and girls' four with coxswain to the finals.

In the girls' senior eight race, the Titans battled even with Washington-Lee of Arlington, Va., before leaving the Generals two lengths behind with a strong push in the final 500 meters.Both qualified for the finals.

Williams' boys' senior eight shook off W-L and Father Judge of Philadelphia with a strong finish to place second to Ridley of St. Catharine's, Ontario, in one qualifying heat. W-L shaded Judge for the third and last berth in the finals.

The only Titan crew which did not qualify was the boys' lightweight eight, although it recorded a time better than three crews that advanced. The Titans placed third in the fastest heat, clocking 4:42.9 to 4:42.3 for victorious Denis Morris and 4:42.6 for St. Joseph's Prep (A) of Philadelphia.

W-L won its lightweight heat in 4:45 to beat Bonner of Philadelphia by a length. The Generals, sporting the largest contingent at the regatta with 11 entries, also qualified their junior fours with and without coxswain and their pair, all boys' events. Two other crews were placed directly in the finals.

Stuart of Falls Church, Va., placed second in the boys' junior four with coxswain and Yorktown of Arlington, Va., finished third in its pairs heat as the other Washington-area qualifiers.
