George Washington, which has won three straight games by working the ball into center Mike Zagardo, entertains George Mason (2-13) tonight at Smith Center at 8 o'clock.

The Colonials (11-15), with wins in six of their last seven games, seem to have hit on a formula using Zagardo inside and sharpshooter Brian Magid outside.

In GW's last three victories over Catholic, West Virginia and American, Zagardo has had 24, 26 and 18 points.

Magid hit eight free throws against AU and is now 55 of 60 for the season, including a string of 46 in a row that fell 14 shy of the NCAA record held by Bob Lloyd of Rutgers.

George Mason forward Dave Skaff and Zagardo were teammates at Dulaney High School in Timonium, Md. Mason weathered 18 straight losses before beating Rider and Robert Morris.

In other games, Georgetown tries to avenge a first-round Holiday Festival overtime loss to Boston College when it visits the Eagles at 8 p.m.; Maryland visits Virginia at 8, Hampton Institute plays UDC at McKinley High at 1, Montgomery-Takoma visits Montgomery-Rockville at 7:30 and Anne Arundel CC plays at Prince George's CC at 5:15.
