Roberto Dennis stroked four singles and Mark Johnston added a double and a triple to place Alexandria to a 7-6 win over Kinston in Carolina League action and stretched the team's win streak to six.

Alexandria pulled away from a 1-1 tie when Dennis led off the fifth inning with a single to center, was sacrificed to second and scored on Victor Rodriquez' single. Johnston walked and both base runners moved up when Eagle pitcher John Gill threw his pick-off attempt into center.

With two out, Jeff Rudolph hit a chopper back to the box, but Gill's indecision kept him from throwing anywhere, allowing Rodriguez to score. Ron Russell's RBI single ended the outburst.

After Kinston scored three of their own in the bottom of the fifth the Dukes broke back on top with their next at-bat. Four hits and another Eagle error allowed three more runs in and the Dukes had a 7-4 cushion.

But the Eagles weren't through. Kinston scored once Phil Lansford's RBI-single in the eighth and on Bern Ramie's homer in the ninth before Pete Hamner came in to collect the final two outs.
