Jenny Rapp of Starlit Aquatic Club set a Potomac Valley AAU Senior Open record of 2:24.83 for the 200-meter individual medley last night in the Olympian Invitational meet at Starlit.
Rapp's time bested Melissa Belote's 1977 mark of 2:25.39.
Rapp, who leads the girls competition with 25 points, also won the 100-meter butterfly in 1:04.3.
The second session will be held today, with preliminaries starting at 9:30 a.m. and age-group competition at 1:30. Finals and consolations will be held at 7.
SAC Coach Holgert Dietze said of Rapp's performance: "She has done better times at the nationals. But considering how early it is in the season, I'm really pleased with her performance. This is her best time in her own pool."
The Starlit Aquatic Club, ranked 12th nationally, and the unranked Foxcatcher Swim Club of Philadelphia dominated the first day's finals, with team members finishing in first, second or third in all events except two. w
The boys individual leader is David Alleva with 20 points. Alleva won the 400-meter freestyle in 4:11.65 and took second in the 100-meter butterfly.
