David Alleva of Starlit Aquatic Club set a Potomac Valley AAU open record of 4:09:30 in the men's 400 freestyle, eclipsing his old mark of 4:19.43 at the second session of the PVAAU senior long course swimming championships at Starlit pool in Fairfax last night.

The last session of the meet will be held Sunday at Starlit with the preliminaries beginning at 9 a.m. and the finals at 7 p.m.

Starlit extended its already commanding lead over second-place Rockville Municipal Swim Club to 1,100 point, 3422-2322.

The Starlit men continued to dominate the competition, capturing first places in each event to stretch their unbeated streak in the three-day meet.

Phil Perdue of Starlit captured first place in two of the four individual medley events, winning the 100-meter butterfly and the 200 meter freestyle.

The Starlitt women won three of five events with Jenny Rapp edging teammate Maria Pease by .03 of a second in the 200-meter freestyle and taking the 400-meter freestyle. Her sister, Betsy Rapp, won the 400-meter individual medley.

Starlit Aquatic Coach Holger Dietze said of his club's domination of the meet, "There have been complaints that we have not swam our best swimmers in the local meets, so we thought it was time to let everyone know who was No. 1."
