Lance Fletcher broke meet records in the mile and 880 run at yesterday's 15th annual Maryland Governor's Youth Track and Field Meet at Friendly High School. Eleven meet records were shattered.

Fletcher clocked a 4:38.8 mile, smashing the previous intermediate records of 4:49. His 880 time of 2:05.9 eclipsed the previous record of 2:07 set by Ken Daughtery.

Daughtery broke his 440 record of 52.09 with 50.7.

In the 100, Phil Brooks of Bowie won in 10.3, outracing the previous junior record of 10.8 held by Mike Cartwright.

Intermediate Karen Woods of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, set a 100-yard record of 11.4, surpassing Marie Pearsons' previous record of 12.2.

Two meet records feel in girls' 440 events. Junior Sabre Hilliard won in 60 seconds flat, besting the previous record (1:02.6) held by Dorothy Gladden. Midget Tonya Thornton's :06.3 topped the previous mark of 1:14.27 set by Annette Johnson.

Other meet records were set by bantam Patrick McIntyre, 440 walk (2:02); Brent Bowman, bantam softball throw (160 feet); Guilford (Baltimore) intermediate boys, 440-relay team (45.7); and MNCPPC's midget girls 440-relay team (54.8).
