Members of the Cosmos and Fort Lauderdale Strikers soccer teams will be arriving in Washington today and Wednesday beginning a week of festivities, banquets and ceremonies leading up to Sunday's North American Soccer League championship Soccer Bowl game at RFK Sadium.

The teams will be offically welcomed Wednesday at a noon press conference at the stadium when a proclamation from Major Marion Barry's office will be read proclaiming this week as Soccer Week in the nation's capital.

On Thursday night the NASL will hold its annual awards dinner at the Sheraton Washington Hotel. Proceeds from $125-a-plate dinner will benefit the Special Olmpics and Heroes Inc.

On Friday morning, the club owners will attend a breakfast at the Shoreham Hotel hosted by the Greater Washington Sports Authority at 7:30. That night they will attend a private party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sargent Shriver, and on Saturday a Soccer Bowl Festival is scheduled for the Sylvan Theater on the Washington Monument grounds between noon and 6 p.m.

That event will include a two-hour soccer clinic at which members of the Washington Diplomats will be available for autographs and for tips and pointers on the game of soccer. It will also include 5 1/2 to 6 hours of music by a variety of groups including the Trouble-Funk.

Saturday, NASL Commissioner Phil Woosnam will host a cocktail party and on Sunday before the game the owners and their guests will attend a brunch at RFK Stadium hosted by the Diplomats and Adidas, the sports shoe manufacturer.

Coinciding with the Soccer Bowl festivities will be the second annual invitation tournament for Washington area women's soccer teams Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the polo field at West Potomac Park. Twenty-four teams are scheduled to praticipate inthe minigame, round-robin tournament, which will end Sunday morning.
