Bern Altman from Einstein and Central's Karen Wood each captured three events to pace their schools to the team championships in the Maryland Class A Region 2 indoor meet yesterday at Reckford Armory in College Park.

Altman won the 1,000 (2:27.3), the mile (4:33.5) and the two-mile (10:07.2) as Einstein finished with 117 points, well ahead of Paint Branch (58) and Northwood (51).

In the girls competition, Wood won the 60 hurdles (9.0), the 600 (1:32.5), and the 1,000 (2:58) as Central finished with 138 points. Northwood was second with 74 points and Paint Branch third with 42.

Chesa Gartmon, a sophomore from Central, won the shot put with a throw of 37-2, the best mark in Maryland this year and the second best in the Washington area.

Murray's two mile time of 10:35.0 was Fort Hunt's only first among the boys field events. Edison High School claimed five wins among the boys but finished second, 119-111. Lee finished third with 81 points.

Rhodes took both the 300-(38.5) and 600-yard runs (1:38.8) and Miley won the Mile (5:17.3) and two mile (11:59.7) helping Fort Hunt's girls accumulate 157 points. Groveton finished a distant second with 67.
