Phil Morgan's two free throws with 30 seconds left gave the University of District of Columbia a 60-57 lead and the Firebirds held on to beat Radford, 60-59, tonight, their 10th in a row.

UDC center Earl Jones did not play because he sprained an ankle Saturday, and fellow high scorer Michael Britt scored only six points.

After Morgan's free throws, Radford's Roy Flynn was fouled while making a layup to bring Radford within 60-59. With no time on the clock, Flynn went to the foul line and missed, enabling UDC to improve its record to 15-7.

Radford (12-9) led most of the first half until UDC guard Michael Daniels scored six consecutive points to give the Firebirds a 27-26 lead. UDC led at the half, 33-26.

UDC led most of the second half but Radford tied the score at 57 on two baskets by foward Jeff Wilson.

UDC's James Neal was fouled by Wilson as he scored his tying layup basket. Neal hit the first shot of a one and one for a 58-57 lead.

With 30 seconds remaining, Radford's Craig Rhew fouled Morgan in the back court and the guard made two foul shots to give UDC an apparent worry-free final half-minute.

However, Flynn drove the lane uncontested, made the basket, was fouled by Neal and went to the free throw line with a chance to tie the game.
