Four Robert Morris players scored in double figures to lead the Colonials to an 80-70 victory over visiting George Mason at John Jay Center today.
Robert Morris pulled ahead to stay on Forest Grant's pair of free throws with 15 minutes left in the first half for an 8-6 lead and went on to a 35-25 halftime lead.
The closest George Mason came was 71-66 when the Partiots' Kevin Jackson sank two free throws with 3:03 remaining. George Mason then committed two straight turnovers which led to three unanswered Colonial points to give Robert Morris a commanding 74-66 lead with 1:43 left. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for Robert Morris, now 8-16. The Patriots slipped to their third straight loss, 10th straight road loss and are 9-14a. GMU has not won on the road since it defeated Catholic in January.
George Mason was led by forward Dave Skaff's 21 points. Freshman Andy Bolden scored 19 points and fellow guard John Niehoff added 10. Grant scored a game-high 22 points for Morris, followed by senior Larry Downing of Washington's H. D. Woodson High with 20.
