Officials at WRC-TV-4 said yesterday the station will show both Georgetown and Maryland first-round NCAA tournament games Thursday.
The Georgetown-James Madison game will be shown at 7 p.m., and the game between Maryland and Tennessee-Chattanooga will follow at 9:30, the station said.
The Howard-Wyoming game, which starts at Friday at 12:30 a.m. EST, either will be carried live by WRC or will be shown on tape Friday at 4 p.m. The National Association of Broadcast Engineers and Technicians must grant the station a waiver over its jurisdictional rights on the broadcast feed from Los Angeles in order for WRC to televise the game live. That decision will be made today.
If Maryland wins Thursday, WRC will televise its tournament game with Indiana at 4 p.m. Saturday. If Maryland loses Thursday, WRC will carry in that time slot the game between Notre Dame and the winner of the Georgetown-James Madison game.
If the Maryland game is telecast Saturday, the game between Notre Dame and the winner of the Georgetown-James Madison game will be aired on a delayed basis Sunday at a time to be announced.
The game between Virginia and the winner of the Houston-Villanova game will be shown Sunday at 3 p.m., the station said.
