Farmer (5-2), picked up $250 for avenging an earlier loss to Harper (4-3) five months ago in Richmond. Farmer opened a gash over Harper's left eye in the second round and, in the third, ripped a cut under Harper's right eye. A vicious right by Farmer in the fourth round knocked Harper out of the ring.
The spill into the $10 reserved seats seemed to revive Harper enough to make it a contest during the final two rounds.
In the six-bout undercard, former Sugar Ray Leonard trainer Dave Jacobs unveiled his new welterweight sensation Lloyd Taylor. "He's the next star," laughed Jacobs, after his fighter knocked out Junior Dill in the first round.
In a light heavyweight bout, Robert McConnell attacked Lorton's Ed Harris from the opening bell. McConnell's assault lasted until he was felled by a Harris hook with five seconds left in the fourth and final round. McConnell was still groggy when he was awarded a split decision.
