After losing the first game, 7-0, the Alexandria Dukes came back to defeat the Durham Bulls, 6-2, yesterday at Four Mile Run Park in a Carolina League doubleheader.

In the fourth inning of the second game, the Dukes ended a scoreless streak of 20 innings, scoring three runs on four consecutive hits. Catcher Ken Ford started off the inning when he bunted safely down the third-base line. Center fielder Bennie de la Rosa singled home both runners. Jim Felt's single scored de la Rosa.

In the fifth, Ford hit his fourth home run of the season, with Ron Wotus and John Schaive on base. In the same inning, Schaive tied an Alexandria record with his 26th double of the year.

Tim Burke, went the distance for Alexandria, allowing eight hits and striking out three.

In the first game, the Bulls reached Ray ykrawczyk, making his debut for Alexandria, for nine hits and seven runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Durham batters Ronny Rudd, Brad Komminsk and Keith Hagman each had two hits in four at bats.

Following the Dukes' games, Jack Fields (R-Tex.) knocked in the winning run with a fourth-inning single and drove in an insurance run with a sixth-inning single to lead the Republicans past the Democrats, 6-4, in the annual Congressional Classic.
