Stetson shot 67 percent from the field and pulled away from George Washington in the second half for a 75-68 victory tonight.

The Hatters, trailing by one at intermission, rallied behind the scoring of 6-foot-8 forward Gary Mims, 6-8 center Mike Reddick and 6-5 guard Frank Burnell. In the second half, Mims scored 10 of his 16 points, Reddick 10 of his 15, and Burnell 14 of his 16. Mims and Reddick were effective close to the basket, and Burnell scored mostly from the perimeter.

The Hatters made 18 of 21 foul shots in the second half, and GW made four of six.

George Washington (2-2) was ahead most of the first half, led by guard Wilbert Skipper, who scored 10 of his game-high 20 points in the first 13 minutes. Center Mike Brown scored a layup just before halftime to give the Colonials a 26-25 lead.

Stetson (2-3) applied a box-and-one defense on Skipper early in the second half and held him scoreless for six minutes, during which time the Hatters took the lead.

Stetson led, 57-46, with 7:38 remaining, but GW reduced the deficit to 71-66 on a basket by Oscar Wilmington with 48 seconds remaining.

Wilmington scored 15 points and had a game-high 10 rebounds. Brown had 17 points and eight rebounds.
