Andy Bolden scored 16 points and Mike Shannon 14 to lead George Mason to a 72-59 victory over Atlantic Christian last night before 1,800 fans at the George Mason field house.

Shannon, a 6-foot-7 forward, took control of the rebounding in the second half to score 12 points. The Patriots (5-7) led at the half, 33-29 and broke the game open by scoring 11 points in a row early in the second half to go on top, 48-33, with 16:16 left. Shannon had six points in the run.

The Bulldogs (5-8) lowered their deficit to 51-45 with 10:14 left. Elton Mosley scored eight of Atlantic Christian's 12 points in the comeback.

Shannon then temporarily stalled the Bulldogs' hopes with a three-point play for a 54-45 Patriot advantage with 9:57. But Atlantic Christian managed to cut the lead to five, 56-51 with 6:54 left following George Bell's (13 points) turnaround jumper.

George Mason scored the next six points on baskets by Bolden, Ricky Dillard and a dunk by Andre Gaddy (13 points) to take a 62-51 lead with 5:10 remaining. The closest the visitors could get the rest of the way was nine points.
