It was too much Michael Britt and Earl Jones for Radford University last night as the University of the District of Columbia prevailed, 75-62, at the UDC Physical Activity Center.

Britt made 12 of 18 from the floor in scoring 28 points and Jones had 19 points on nine of 16 as the Firebirds improved their record to 15-5. Radford is 15-7. Britt, 19 for 21 last game, has a field goal shooting percentage of .746 in four games this month, 53 of 71.

Radford, ranked second in NAIA District 19, knocked off the Firebirds, 84-81, last month at home in south Virginia. UDC Coach Wil Jones felt his team's defense was a little better last night.

"They shot 64 percent at their gym," Jones said. "This time we were a step closer when they had the ball and they weren't able to take those shots. We executed the same as we did last game."

The teams traded baskets early. After 10 minutes, UDC led, 20-18. Earl Jones, on his way to a 13-point opening half, got a three-point play and a dunk, then a Britt dunk provided a 27-20 advantage with five minutes left in the period. The Firebirds led, 33-26, at intermission.

Britt scored on a stuff and a pair of foul shots, then a backward slam dunk that opened the UDC lead to 48-37 with 13:40 to play. The Highlanders never got closer than nine points.
