It's experiences such as the one she had at the Arizona Copper Classic that have prevented Crofton's Nancy Maunder from winning any money as a rookie on the LPGA tour. Maunder was assessed a penalty stroke when her caddie moved her golf ball with his breath, trying to blow away a bee . . . Jerry Long, 68, who has been at East Potomac, Roanoke, Rock Creek and Cedar Crest, is celebrating his 50th year as a golf pro as Dick Canney's assistant at Chantilly. "He's too old to call an 'assistant'; we call him 'golf coordinator,' " Canney said . . . Bobby Morris, former area junior star who briefly turned pro and then regained his amateur status, has joined the Bethesda insurance firm of Bogart and Brownell as an account executive. Ralph Bogart and Bobby Brownell were known as the "Gold Dust Twins" for their amateur golf successes, including several victories in the Belle Haven Four Ball; it's May 6 to 9 this year . . . In Woodmont's opening-day tournament, Jerry Melnicove, Bud Silvert, Duke Zeibert and Stanley Westreich won with net 57. Harry Leavy won gross, 73, and Jerry Footer net, 67.

Frank Emmet, 83, who founded and has monitored Washington junior golf for more than half a century, is the PGA Card Walker Award winner for 1982. Emmet's daughter Annmarie accepted the 15-inch Waterford crystal award in Jacksonville because Emmet was recovering from a cataract operation. Emmet is well now and moves into his 55th year of running the area juniors . . . Sally Voss of Congressional, three-time Women's District champion attending medical school at University of California at San Francisco, won her second San Francisco City women's title recently. Voss plans to spend the last segment of her education, between March and May of next year, at Oxford. She does not yet know whether she will play in this year's Women's District championship June 14 to 18 at Lakewood . . .David Graham reached all 18 greens in regulation in the final round of the U.S. Open last year at Merion, but is ranked below 100th in that category in this season's PGA statistics, his lowest ranking in any category.
