Gorman Thomas' two-run homer with none out in the 12th gave Milwaukee its victory in New York.

Thomas' 19th homer this season followed Cecil Cooper's leadoff single off Shane Rawley (4-4), the fifth Yankee pitcher. Thomas had four hits and three RBI in six at-bats.

The winner was Rollie Fingers (5-5), who came in in the seventh and gave up two runs that tied the score in the ninth. Jamie Easterly got his second save although the Yankees loaded the bases off him with one out in the 12th.

The Brewers took a 6-0 lead with five runs in the third. Paul Molitor's bunt single brought home the first run that inning, Robin Yount singled in a run, Cooper hit a sacrifice fly and Thomas got an RBI single before Don Money doubled in a run.

Randy Lerch held the Yankees scoreless until the fifth, when Willie Randolph singled in a run. New York scored four times in the seventh on RBI singles by Dave Collins, Butch Wynegar and Ken Griffey and Dave Winfield's sacrifice fly.

The Brewers got their seventh run in the eighth on an RBI single by Yost, who also doubled and tripled.

The Brewers have scored 64 runs their last six games. They have won 12 of their last 14.
