Mike Quarry of Bakersfield, Calif., will meet Virginia light heavyweight champion Blueford Spencer of Richmond on a boxing-karate fight card at the Crystal City Hyatt Regency Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. Scott Farmer, the Virginia lightweight champion, faces O.C. Harper, the District champion, in the other boxing co-feature.
Quarry, a former North American light heavyweight champion, has a record of 63-11-6 with 17 knockouts.
Harper (5-2) and Farmer (9-2-1) have fought twice before, each winning a decision. Spencer's record is 11-4-1. Quarry's brother Bobby (2-0) will fight New York's Billy Saunders (3-5-1).
On Aug. 28 at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, James Broad (8-0) of Wildwood, N.J., will meet James Reed (9-4-1) of Richmond in the main event on a six-bout card. Washington's (Irish) Mike Baker will fight Philadelphia's Leo Martinez . . . Junior middleweight Tony Ayala Jr. was found to have accumulated 19 traffic citations in the last 18 months in San Antonio, Tex. Ayala, who is on probation after being convicted of the 1978 assault of a 17-year-old girl, also faces a burglary charge resulting from an incident last week in San Antonio.
