David Jamison, 18, of the Wissahickon Skating Club of Philadelphia, won the junior men's overall championship last night in the South Atlantic Figure Skating Championships at the Mount Vernon Ice Arena.
Jamison was first in the short program and free skating events and third in the figures.
Robert Davis, 20, of the Tara Figure Skating Club of Atlanta, was second, and Doug Mattis, 16, of the Philadelphia Skating Club, third.
The top three skaters in each category advanced to the sectional championships at South Yarmouth, Mass., Dec. 8-11.
Darin Hosier, 16, of Falls Church, won the men's novice title late Thursday night. Hosier, skating with a pulled right groin muscle, finished second in the free skating and third in the figures to bring the Skating Club of Northern Virginia its first title in the weeklong championships. Philadelphia Skating Club teammates Joseph Radomile, 16, and Todd Eldredge, 11, were second and third.
Dawn Latona, 11, also of the Philadelphia Skating Club, won the intermediate ladies championship after first places in in the figures and free skating. Lisa Klotz, 11, of the Penguin Skating Club in Allentown, Pa., went from 12th position after the figures to second overall after a second place in free skating. Third went to Lisa Massingale, 12, of the Tara Figure Skating Club in Atlanta.
Amy (13) and David (15) Hill of the Tara Figure Skating Club won the novice pairs over Anne Marie (8) and Brian (12) Wells of the Figure Skating Club of Gaithersburg
