Unbeaten and seventh-ranked St. John's, led by Chris Mullin's 22 points, defeated Brigham Young, 75-64, to advance to the final of the Holiday Festival tournament last night in New York.

Delaney Rudd scored 20 points as Wake Forest routed St. Joseph's, 88-65, in the first game. Wake will play St. John's, the defending champion, Wednesday night in the final.

St. John's (10-0) trailed at halftime, 35-34, despite 11 points by Mullin, a 6-foot-6 sophomore. But Mullin scored five points in a 9-2 run early in the second half to give the Redmen a 43-39 advantage. With David Russell making three field goals, the Redmen increased the lead to 53-43 with about 11 minutes to go.

Devin Durrant led BYU with 19 points.

Wake Forest (7-0) broke open the game midway through the first half, capitalizing on several turnovers by St. Joseph's (4-4). The Deacons went on a 21-2 run to take a 29-19 lead.

St. Joe's, kept in the game by the shooting of Bob Lojewski, trailed at halftime, 42-32. It cut the margin to 44-37 early in the second half.
