"If we announce that we're not going to select the teams until the end of the season, or the first weekend of December, and stick to it just once, everyone will fall in line," said Ben Benjamin of the Orange Bowl committee. And the Sugar, Cotton and Fiesta agree, putting the proposal to nullify the current "Saturday after the third Tuesday in November" selection time before representatives of all 16 bowls today in San Diego . . .

Darryl Rogers says stop all the talk about him coaching in the NFL--"I have no intention of leaving Arizona State now, next season, nor any time thereafter . . . The No. 1 question I kept hearing from the kids (being recruited) is, 'Coach, are you going to be at Arizona State?' I don't want to lie . . ."
