World B. Free scored 23 points, four on foul shots in the last 19 seconds, and Cliff Robinson had 23 points to help beat visiting Dallas.
Cleveland won its its fourth straight; Dallas lost for only the fourth time in 16 games.
The score was tied at 91 when Free made a driving layup with 1:59 left to give Cleveland the lead for good. Rolando Blackman made a foul shot for Dallas, but Geoff Huston countered with a driving basket to give the Cavaliers a 95-92 advantage.
Jay Vincent's jump shot closed Dallas to 95-94 with 34 seconds to go. But 15 seconds later, Dallas was assessed a technical foul for an illegal defense and Free made the foul shot for a 96-94 lead.
Free was fouled on the ensuing inbounds pass and awarded a free throw because the foul was away from the ball in the last two minutes. Free made the foul shot and the score was 97-94.
After Dallas missed, Free sank two more foul shots for a 99-94 lead with seven seconds remaining.
Mark Aguirre led Dallas with 29 points and Blackman had 26. Robinson got 22 rebounds for Cleveland and John Bagley had 16 points.
