Rob Olson, who learned his soccer in the Northern Virginia youth soccer leagues, scored a goal at 35 minutes yesterday and Bruce Savage added a score 15 minutes later as Team America defeated George Mason University, 2-0, in a scrimmage at Mason.

Tony Crescitelli and Hayden Knight assisted on Olson's goal, and Ramiro Borja and Pedro DeBrito assisted on Savage's in the closely fought contest in which the Patriots posed a stern challenge to Team America.

Ramiro Borja, who is trying out for a position on Team America, is the brother of Chico Borja, a forward who played on the Cosmos before being selected for Team America.

Two other players also have joined the team on a tryout basis, Tony D'Antonio, a naturalized American who has recently been playing for the junior team of Turin, Italy, and Alex Basso, a naturalized American who has recently been playing in Greece. Basso hurt his Achilles' tendon 20 minutes into the game and had to leave the contest.

Paul Hammond played the first half in goal and Arnold Mausser the second half for the winners.

Coach Alkis Panagoulias called the game "a good test . . . They were at least as strong a team and maybe stronger than the teams we faced in Florida."
