Hill's Delight scored an easy victory in a field of three this afternoon in the $2,800 Marlborough Steeple Chase Futurity.

"It was easy. I didn't have to do anything, not even encourage her in the stretch, she just galloped," said rider Don Yovanovich, of Upperville, Va.

"She's a very good jumper, also," he added.

The 4-year-old chestnut went to the top at the fifth of nine hurdles after French Escapade with Berry Wiseman aboard had led for the two previous fences.

Memorial Hill and British rider Simon Shaw finished second after leading over the first two hurdles.

Hill's Delight was clocked at 3:11 3/5 over the 1 5/8-mile steeplechase course at Roedown.

Dom Largo, a 9-year-old bay gelding ridden by Bruce Davidson of Unionville, Pa., won the $1,000 Roedown Cup in the Governor's Cup series after going ahead at the last of 18 fences over three miles. The ride was Davidson's second aboard the horse.

Shy Donald, William Shewning aboard, finished third to Lisa Coffren and Windsor View.

The winning time was 6:49 before an estimated crowd of nearly 4,000.

Billy Martin guided Fabulous Time, a 9-year-old bay, over the 1 1/2-mile hurdle course to win the $1,000 John D. Bowling Memorial Steeple Chase in 3:12.

His only competition came from Sky Carlo with Simon Shaw aboard, who finished 10 lengths back.
