John McLoughlin led Navy sweeps of the 100- and 200-meter dashes and anchored the winning 400-meter relay team to lead the Midshipmen to a 103-60 win over Army in college track and field today.

McLoughlin won the 100 in 11 seconds and the 200 in 21.8. The 400-meter relay team (Joe Hines, Tae Andrews, Willia Hosch and McLoughlin) won in 41.5.

Navy also swept the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Mark Newman won in 8:55. Army's Cardell Williams won the 800 in a meet-record 1:51.1 and the 1,500 in 3:51.2. Army's Todd Kulik jumped 22-3 1/4 to lead Army to a sweep of the long jump.

Howard's Ken Fentress finished second in the shot put, with a heave of 45-0 1/2, on the first day of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships at Florida A&M.

Mari-Christine Hart of Howard was third in the women's high jump (5-2) and Cheri Wilkerson finished third in the shot put (66-8 1/2).

The Bison men are in fifth place. The Bison women are in third.
