Rigo Rodriguez drew a two-out, 10th-inning walk from Alexandria reliever Scott Bayliss to force in Kevin Wiggins with the winning run and give the Salem Redbirds a 4-3 Carolina League victory over the Dukes tonight.

Al Wiggins began the Redbirds' rally with a one-out double to left off Dukes pitcher David Johnson. Oscar Mejia was intentionally walked and, after a force out at second, Bayliss relieved Johnson. Bayliss walked John Westmoreland to load the bases and then walked Rodriguez.

Salem pitchers Billy Taylor and Bruce Oliver allowed the Dukes (3-2) just two infield hits. Taylor pitched seven innings, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out eight Dukes. Oliver retired all nine batters he faced, striking out two.

In the fourth inning, Marvin Clack led off with a single and moved to second on a ground out. Roberto Bonilla walked with two outs and Tim Opie's infield hit scored Clack, Bonilla racing home on an ensuing Redbird error and Opie taking third. Opie then scored on an infield error and the Dukes led, 3-1.

The Redbirds tied the game in the ninth at 3. Rodriguez doubled and scored when Johnson threw Jamie Moreno's bunt into the dugout.
