Brett Butler scored from second base on shortstop Mike Ramsey's two-out throwing error in the 11th inning as the Atlanta Braves scored twice to beat the Cardinals, 7-5, and complete a three-game sweep in St. Louis.
Bruce Sutter (4-2) walked Butler with two out and he stole second base and scored when Ramsey fielded Rafael Ramirez's infield single and threw the ball off Ramirez's foot and past first baseman Keith Hernandez.
"I had a little trouble getting it out of my glove and it was a bad throw," Ramsey said. "But unfortunately for us it hit the runner on the foot. If it doesn't hit him, then we at least save a run."
Ramirez reached second on the error and scored on Claudell Washington's single off Dave Von Ohlen. Steve Bedrosian (4-2) pitched the final two innings for the victory.
St. Louis, which trailed, 4-1, after three innings, started a rally when Lonnie Smith opened the fourth with his third home run of the season. The Cardinals closed to 4-3 in the sixth on a walk to Tommy Herr, Ken Oberkfell's double and Keith Hernandez's sacrifice fly.
