Anders Jarryd upset top-seeded Ivan Lendl in the final of the $310,000 Australian indoor championships in Sydney. Jarryd needed only two hours, two minutes for a 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory.

Lendl, who had lost only 18 games while reaching the final, lost to Jarryd for the first time in their five meetings.

In the semifinals, Lendl defeated Eliot Teltscher, 6-1, 6-1, and Jarryd rallied to beat Ben Testerman, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 . . .

Top-seeded Jimmy Arias defeated defending champion Gene Mayer, 7-6, 6-7, 6-1, to win the title in the $150,000 Du Pont All-American Championships in Hilton Head, S.C. . . .

In Basel, Switzerland, unseeded Tim Wilkison rallied to beat Michiel Schapers, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3, to reach the final of the $120,000 Basel international indoor championships. In Sunday's match, Wilkison will face third-seeded Joakim Nystrom, who overcame Stefan Edberg, 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 . . .

Second-seeded Carling Bassett or seventh-seeded Michelle Torres will earn her first tournament victory today in the $150,000 Florida Federal Open at Innisbrook in Tarpon Springs. In the semifinals, Bassett defeated third-seeded Pam Casale, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3, and Torres, who turned professional in early September, rebuffed a late rally by unseeded Camille Benjamin in a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) victory.

After losing the first set, Bassett wore down Casale, who has been suffering from a pulled stomach muscle all week.
