Denis Savard scored three goals and added an assist last night to lead the Chicago Black Hawks to a 7-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Savard's third goal of the game, and 15th of the season, gave the host Black Hawks a 6-1 lead with 18:22 left. The hat trick was Savard's second of the year and third of his career. The goal came on a power play.

Toronto made it 6-2 on a power play at 3:55 when Borje Salming scored his third goal of the year. Chicago's Doug Wilson completed the scoring with his second goal of the game, at 7:10 of the third period.

There were five fights during the game.

Chicago took a 4-1 lead 34 seconds into the second period when Wilson sent a 50-footer past goalie Tim Bernhardt for his seventh goal. Al Secord made it 5-1 at 9:03, putting in a short shot after a pass from Savard. It was Secord's seventh goal of the year.

Savard's first two goals -- 19 seconds apart in the first period -- gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead. Darryl Sutter pushed it to 3-0 with his 12th goal of the year.
