Danny Ferry scored a game-high 25 points today to lead DeMatha High School to an 80-56 victory over Henry Clay of Lexington.

Ferry, who averages 25 points and 20 rebounds a game, also got 15 rebounds.

The Stags (9-0) scored eight straight points to take a 15-4 advantage in the first period and never were seriously challenged the rest of the game. They went into intermission with a 37-24 lead.

The Stags kept up their defensive pressure in the second half, scoring the first six points and ending the third quarter with a 54-36 edge. DeMatha outrebounded Clay, 39-24.

John Gwynn scored 18 points and Duane Faust 12 for DeMatha, which won its first game over Henry Clay (3-4) after losses the past two years.

Chip Rupp led Clay with 16 points and eight rebounds, and Tim Jones had 13.
