At the Father Diamond Memorial indoor meet that attracted more than 500 competitors to George Mason University, Sophia Hunter anchored the Delaware State women's mile relay team to victory in 3:44.44 and won the 55-meter hurdles in 7.66 seconds; Joann Major, also on that relay team, won the 55-meter dash in 7.09.

George Mason's Denisa Fleenor won the 3,000 meters in 10:18.47; Tamela Penny of Maryland the high jump at 5-8; Virginia's Kim Kelly the 1,000 in 2:49.46, Gail Bennett the 500 in 1:13.64, Nevada Tinsley the triple jump, 38-3 3/4.
