Cliff Rees had 15 points, Carl Liebert 14 and three other Navy players scored in double figures tonight as the Midshipmen outmanned Bethany (W.Va.) College, 94-34, before 1,923 at Halsey Field House.

Winning its sixth straight, Navy improved its record to 9-2. The Midshipmen have won 14 consecutive games at home. Bethany, in its first appearance against Navy, dropped to 4-6.

The Midshipmen held a 14-6 lead before running off 18 points to build a 32-6 wall with 5:38 left in the first half. At halftime, it was 44-14.

Kylor Whitaker led the first-half scoring with 11 points and Rees had nine. David Robinson, Navy's 6-foot-11 sophomore center, had eight rebounds before intermission.

"At the beginning of the year we thought we might need one (a game) like this to maybe get us back to .500," said Navy Coach Paul Evans. "But the kids have been coming on so well the past couple of weeks, that what more can I say?"

The Midshipmen started the second half with a 23-2 run to 67-16 with 10:48 left. Rees and Vernon Butler had six points each in the streak and Robinson had five.

When Liebert went to the line to shoot two free throws with 6:01 to play, Bethany's Scott Mosby looked up at the scoreboard, saw 77-26, and could only say, "Wow!"

Butler ended with 12 points and Whitaker and Robinson had 11 each. Navy shot 63 percent from the floor, 42 of 67. The Midshipmen outrebounded Bethany, 52-31.
