Fred Hill scored 21 points, George Hamilton had 17 and Robert Jones sank seven of eight free throws in the last 80 seconds as Howard came back from a three-point halftime deficit to defeat Morgan State, 70-61, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference basketball game tonight at Hill Field House.

The Bison (13-10 overall, 7-3 conference) trailed, 34-29, early in the second half before Hill scored nine of Howard's next 13 points and hit the basket that gave his team a 42-40 lead with 13:43 left to play. Hamilton scored seven of Howard's next nine points to give the Bison a 51-44 advantage with seven minutes remaining.

Morgan went on a 10-4 run of its own and cut the lead to 55-54 with 3:25 left in the game. But the Bison responded with an 8-2 surge to take a 63-56 lead with 1:20 remaining and Jones (13 points) then started making free throws.

William Lawson scored 10 of his team-high 17 points to give the Bears (2-21, 1-8) a 32-29 first-half lead. Lawson also scored the first basket of the second half to give Morgan State its biggest lead, 34-29, with 19:28 left.
