Mike Greene will be Navy's only representative at the NCAA indoor track and field championships at Syracuse Friday and Saturday.

Greene, a freshman from Roxbury, Mass., won his third big race in three weeks with a time of 1:02.85 in the 500 meters at the IC4A indoor championships in Princeton, N.J., last weekend. Two weeks ago, he set a meet record of 1:02.51 against Army and last week he won the same event at the Heptagonals . . .

Maryland junior Len Bias and North Carolina State senior Lorenzo Charles each polled 246 of a possible 250 points to lead balloting for the all-Atlantic Coast Conference basketball team.

The all-ACC squad also includes Georgia Tech's Mark Price (223 points), Duke's Johnny Dawkins (199) and North Carolina's Brad Daugherty (194).

Second-team selections were Kenny Green of Wake Forest, Mark Alarie of Duke, John Salley of Georgia Tech, Adrian Branch of Maryland and Kenny Smith of North Carolina.

The voting was done by the Atlantic Coast Sports Writers Association . . .

Maura Gill, senior guard for Georgetown's women's basketball team, has been named first team all-Big East, the first time a Hoya has been so honored. Gill led the area in scoring (19.6). Beth Knight (11.1), a freshman forward at Georgetown, was named to the Big East all-rookie team.

Hal Wissel, basketball coach at North Carolina-Charlotte, has resigned. Wissel, coach at the school since 1982, gave no explanation for the resignation, which is effective immediately. He was 22-62 with the 49ers.
