Al Secord scored twice within a 2:08 span late in the second period last night as visiting Chicago rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Minnesota.
Chicago leads the best-of-seven Norris Division final series, 2-1. The fourth game will be in Bloomington, Minn., Thursday.
Secord snapped a 2-2 tie with 2:50 left in the second period when he sticked the puck away from North Stars defenseman Craig Hartsburg in Minnesota's end and wristed a 20-footer between the legs of Minnesota goaltender Gilles Meloche.
Then, with 42 seconds to go in the period, Denis Savard stole the puck from Minnesota's Ron Wilson and took a slap shot that Meloche stopped. Secord flipped the rebound into the empty net.
Chicago goalie Murray Bannerman was shaky early when the North Stars took a 2-0 lead on power play goals by Dennis Maruk and Dino Ciccarelli. But he rebounded to stop all 17 of Minnesota's second-period shots.
Hartsburg brought the Stars to within 4-3 at 5:30 of the third period with a power play goal.
However, Bannerman blanked the Stars the rest of the way, his best save being a blind leg save while prone on the ice off the stick of Neal Broten with 7:21 to play.
Darryl Sutter scored an empty-net goal with 13 seconds left to ice the victory.
