Stardrift Hanover won the third division of the $215,000 Turtle Dove stakes in 1:55 3/5 last night, a Freestate track record time for 3-year-old year pacing fillies. Forbidden Past, who won the first division, had tied the record in 1:56 1/5.

The previous record of 1:56 2/5 was held by Amore Almahurst.

Rodine Hanover, the 3-10 race favorite, cut fast fractions in the third division but broke in the stretch allowing Stardrift Hanover, driven by Herve Filion, to win by 4 1/2 lengths over Dazzle Almahurst. Rodine finished fourth.

Semalu Damour, an early-line favorite, was scratched due to lameness.

In the first division, Abe Stoltzfus drove Forbidden Past to the front at the start, then held on for a slim victory over Bossy Elite.

This was the ninth victory in 15 starts this year for Forbidden Past, trained by Freestate's leading trainer, John Twigg.

In the second division, Amneris showed the class that made her last year's 2-year-old champion as she overpowered her main rival Stienam in stretch to win in 1:56 3/5.

Driven by Jan Nordin, Amneris raced along the rail until the five-eighths pole when she pulled to the outside and easily defeated pace-setter Stienam by 2 1/2 lengths.

The win pushed Amneris' lifetime earnings to $598,280.
