Widicus, the recent Frank Emmet Schoolboy winner out of Army Navy, will play Pat DiStefano of Hampton, Va. He defeated Tom Joyce of Bassett, Va., 4 and 2, in the round of eight.
Ritchie Jaeger of Midlothian, Va., who beat Pete Costolanski of McLean, 2 and 1, and Matt Mankin of Fincastle, Va., victor by 4 and 3 over Robert Reeping of Latrobe, Pa., will meet in the other 7:30 semifinal. The final will start at 1 p.m.
In the girls division, medalist Kirsten Stone of Bethlehem, Pa., defeated Ellen Russell of Forest, Va., 5 and 4. Stone will play Karen Jefferson of Seaford, Del., who was 2 down with two holes to play but beat Donna Martz of Broadway, Va., on the 19th. Shannon Hanley of Germantown will play Kim Cayce of Potomac in the other semifinal.
Against Jacobs, Widicus was 5 up after 11 holes but Jacobs, an Andrews Air Force Base golfer, rallied to win the 12th, 13th and 14th. Widicus made a 30-foot birdie putt on 15. Jacobs won the 16th with par. Widicus closed him out by halving 17.
Widicus and Peden, who plays out of Argyle, were even after nine. Widicus birdied 13 and made a 3 1/2-foot birdie to win the hole and close out the match on 15.
In his afternoon match, Jaeger went 4 up after five as Costolanski bogeyed the first two holes and double-bogeyed the fourth. Still 3 down after 15, Costolanski won 16 in par and outdrove Jaeger off the 17th tee but his 25-foot birdie putt was just short. They halved the hole with pars and it was Jaeger's match.
