Atlanta Falcons -- Cut DT Gary Burley, a 10-year veteran, for being overweight. Burley, 32, who was obtained by Atlanta from the Cincinnati Bengals last year, had been ordered to report to training camp at 285 pounds, but he never weighed in officially at less than 294.
Buffalo Bills -- Signed rookie CB Ron Pitts of UCLA, a seventh round draft choice and the son of Bills' assistant coach Elijah Pitts.
Chicago Bears -- Waived QB Rusty Lisch and placed two players on a list of those physically unable to perform: DT Dan Hampton and WR Dennis McKinnon. FB Tony Lombardi was returned to Chicago to have an injured back examined and RB Donald Jordan returned to camp after leaving Saturday for personal reasons.
Denver Broncos -- Came to terms with veteran TE Jay Saldi; placed free agent RB Aaron Roberts on the reserve-retired list.
Detroit Lions -- Cut DB Tom Morris, TE Scott Alward, LB Alan Chrite, TE Jeff Colvin, and S Ron Watson.
Indianapolis Colts -- Announced DT Leo Wisniewski faces disciplinary action after walking away from training camp yesterday; it remains uncertain why Wisniewski walked out.
Los Angeles Raiders -- Waived ninth-round draft choice Chris Sydnor, a DB from Penn State, and S John Krimm and LB Archie Carter, both free agents; WR Cliff Branch, who will be 37 on Thursday, said he will retire after this season.
Miami Dolphins -- OG Roy Foster (pinched nerve in neck) became third offensive lineman sidelined; OT Cleveland Green (sprained ankle) and OG Jeff Toews (calf) were injured earlier. All-America DB Tony Thurman of Boston College and WR Roger Dixon of Florida cut; USFL veteran WR Frank Lockett signed.
Minnesota Vikings -- Announced retirement of veteran TE Joe Senser, 28, who never had fully recovered from 1982 knee injury.
New England Patriots -- Signed PK Tony Franklin, who tied for third in scoring in the American Football Conference last season, for two years; announced LB Clayton Weishuhn will undergo arthroscopic surgery on left knee Friday.
New Orleans Saints -- Announced LB Dennis (Dirt) Winston has left camp in a training dispute; welcomed LB Johnnie Poe to camp after a three-year contract was signed.
New York Jets -- Signed RB Scott Stamper, formerly of the financially troubled San Antonio Gunslingers of the United States Football League.
Pittsburgh Steelers -- Cut CB Terry Matichak, an 11th-round draft pick from Missouri; S Mike Sutton; S Randy Clark; DT Kevin Powell; LB Frank Goode; CB Danny Andrews; LB Steve DeVries; CB Cornell Gowdy; DT-DE Bob Walko, and DE Nate Bowens.
St. Louis Cardinals -- Signed WR Vince Bean, a rookie free agent from Michigan who had been waived by the Dallas Cowboys.
