A's acquired Birtsas, Rijo and bullpen star Jay Howell in the trade that sent Rickey Henderson to the Yankees. Rookie Birtsas beat the Orioles, 4-2, on May 23. It will be Rijo's first start against Baltimore, and Sutton is 1-1 against Baltimore this year. Howell has 23 saves, tied for third in the American League with New York's Dave Righetti. Dave Kingman (24 home runs) and Mike Davis (22) have been the A's top power hitters. Kingman has no homers against Baltimore, Davis one.
