Bullets meeting Nets for first time this season. New Jersey won last year's series, 4-2, finishing in third place, two games above the Bullets in the Atlantic Division. Washington, undefeated on the road and winless at home this year, will start Charles Jones at power forward for Dan Roundfield.

Nets have one of the NBA's best one-two combinations at center in Darryl Dawkins and Mike Gminski. The latter, who re-signed with the team just before the start of the regular season, started in the pivot over Dawkins in Saturday's 136-113 loss to Milwaukee. Nets' new coach is Dave Wohl, a former assistant with Los Angeles and Milwaukee. F Buck Williams, a Maryland graduate, is one of the best in the game at his power position. New addition Mickey Johnson, a former Net, is filling in for Albert King, a free agent who recently signed an offer sheet with the New York Knicks.
