Chicago Bears -- RB Walter Payton has been named the Professional Football Writers Association Player of the Month for November.
NFC -- QB Danny White of the Dallas Cowboys and DE Alphonso Carreker of the Green Bay Packers have been named players of the week.
Los Angeles Rams -- Announced that WR Bobby Duckworth, who did not show up for the team flight to New Orleans last weekend, has been suspended for the game against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night. Duckworth will continue to practice with the team. Duckworth's agent, Jim Steiner, said that his client went to San Diego instead of New Orleans because of a personal problem and that it was not related to drugs.
New England Patriots -- Placed Kenneth Sims, defensive lineman, on injured reserve. Re-signed Smiley Creswell, defensive end. BASEBALL
Milwaukee Brewers -- Acquired OF David Green from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for a minor-league player to be named later. Green batted .248 with five home runs and 20 RBI in 106 games with the Giants last season.
Chicago White Sox -- Named Doug Rader as third base coach to replace Jim Leyland, who was hired as manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates last month.
Oakland A's -- Signed IF Bruce Bochte for a third season. Bochte hit .295 last season, with 14 home runs and 60 RBI. BASKETBALL
Philadelphia 76ers -- Placed G Sedale Threatt on the injured list with a pulled abdominal muscle sustained in Tuesday night's victory over Detroit. He was replaced on the roster by Perry Moss, a free agent guard from Northeastern who played 12 games for the Washington Bullets earlier this season.
Atlanta Hawks -- Placed G Ray Williams was on waivers to make room on the roster for G Glenn "Doc" Rivers. Rivers has been on the injured list since the start of the season with a broken bone in his right wrist.
Portland Trail Blazers -- F Kiki Vandeweghe bruised a bone in his lower right leg during Tuesday's game against the Washington Bullets but may be able to return to the lineup Friday at Boston. HOCKEY
