Trailing at halftime, 39-38, the Patriots (4-3) broke open a close game by scoring 10 straight points -- six by Rose -- to take a 60-52 lead with 10:14 remaining. The Patriots built the lead to 11 points and were not seriously challenged again as they won their second straight road game. The Hawks are 1-4.
Patriots junior Mike Dufrene was five for five from the field and one for one from the foul line filling in for Tracy Battle, who picked up his fourth foul early in the second half. George Mason outrebounded Monmouth, 34-24, with Rose getting a game-high 14.
