Kevin Sweeney threw three touchdown passes to help Fresno State rout 20th-ranked Bowling Green, 51-7, yesterday in the California Bowl in Fresno, Calif.

He completed nine of 19 passes for 185 yards. Bowling Green's Brian McClure, second in NCAA career passing with 10,280 yards, was pressured constantly and completed 22 of 42 passes for 254 yards.

In the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl in Phenix City, Ala., Greg Wallace passed for one touchdown and scored one to enable Augustana of Illinois to win its third straight Division III title and extend its winning streak to 37.

In Greenville, S.C., John Bagwell ran for two touchdowns and Bobby Lamb passed for one touchdown and ran for another to lead Furman to victory in the semifinals of the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.

The Paladins (12-1) will play Georgia Southern (12-2) for the title. Georgia Southern advanced by beating Northern Iowa, 40-33.
