Richard Rellford's 21 points led second-ranked Michigan to a 105-85 basketball victory over Cleveland State yesterday in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Michigan led only 47-45 at the half, then used its superior size to increase its record to 12-0, its best start ever.

Michigan took a 12-0 lead, but the Vikings (8-2) slowly got into the game, with Clinton Ransey scoring 21 of his 24 points in the first half.

Robert Henderson led Michigan in the second half, scoring nine points in a 12-2 run that put the Wolverines up by 85-61.

*Rainbow Classic: Derrick Chievous scored 24 points, 15 in the second half, to lead Missouri into the final in Honolulu with a 69-64 victory over Clemson, which took an 11-0 record into the game.

In consolation games, Bradley beat Villanova in overtime, 58-56, and Wake Forest defeated Hawaii, 75-68.

Missouri (9-4) got 16 points from Dan Bingenheimer and Jeff Strong, who got 14 in the first half to help the Tigers to a 35-29 halftime lead.

Jim Les' two foul shots with five seconds left in overtime gave Bradley the victory over Villanova.

Villanova (6-6), the defending NCAA champion, had lost to Missouri, 72-53, Saturday night and will end up playing Hawaii today for seventh place in the eight-team draw.

*Far West Classic: Darryl Flowers stole the ball and scored on a breakaway as the game ended, saving Oregon State's 59-55 victory over Boston University for third place in the tournament in Portland.

Kansas State beat Tampa, 69-68, in overtime for fourth place and Oregon beat Tennessee Tech, 91-60, for seventh place.

*Sun Bowl Tournament: Juden Smith's 17 points included a last-minute foul shot that enabled Texas-El Paso to beat Ohio State, 58-57, in a semifinal in El Paso.

UTEP will play Alabama in the final tonight. Alabama advanced by beating Nebraska, 78-61.

UTEP, which beat Georgetown Friday night, is 10-1. Ohio State is 9-2, despite getting 27 points and 18 rebounds from Brad Sellers.
